(H) Bonding and Grounding of Cable Shields. The

requirements of 250.4(A)(5) shall apply to the metal shields

of cables used for communications.

Expert Analysis

A new subsection has been added to address the

requirements to ground metal cable shields due to

the possibility of the shields becoming energized

and thereby pose a ﬁre or shock hazard. In addition,

grounding shields is a good practice in eorts to reduce

noise and interference.
