yourserverconguration,changethestartupdevicesequence,setthedateandtime,andsetpasswords.

UsingtheSetupUtilityprogram

TheSetupUtilityprogramisusedtoviewandchangethecongurationsettingsofyourcomputer,regardless

ofwhichoperatingsystemyouareusing.However,theoperatingsystemsettingsmightoverrideanysimilar

settingsintheSetupUtilityprogram.

StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram

TostarttheSetupUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:

1.Makesureyourcomputeristurnedoff.

2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF1keywhenturningonthecomputer.Whenyouhearmultiple

beepsorseealogoscreen,releasetheF1key.

Note:IfaPower-OnPasswordoranAdministratorPasswordhasbeenset,theSetupUtilityprogram

menuwillnotbedisplayeduntilyoutypethecorrectpassword.Formoreinformation,see“Using

passwords”onpage96

WhenthePOSTdetectsthattheharddiskdrivehasbeenremovedfromyourcomputerorthememory

modulesizehasdecreased,anerrormessagewillbedisplayedwhenyoustartthecomputerandyouwillbe

promptedtodooneofthefollowing:

•PressF1toentertheSetupUtilityprogram.AfteryouentertheSetupUtilityprogram,pressF10tosave

thesettingsandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.Theerrormessagewillnotbedisplayedagain.

•PressF2tobypasstheerrormessageandlogintotheoperatingsystem.

•SomeitemsmightvaryduetoBIOSupdates.

•Someitemsaredisplayedonthemenuonlyiftheserversupportsthecorrespondingfeatures.

•Thedefaultsettingsarealreadyoptimizedforyou.Usethedefaultvalueforanyitemyouarenotfamiliar

with.Donotchangethevalueofunfamiliaritemsoritemsthatarenotmentionedinthistopictoavoid

unexpectedproblems.Ifyouconsiderchangingtheserverconguration,proceedwithextremecaution.
