Schedulingbackupsandassociatedtasks
TheschedulerisnotdesignedtobespecictotheRescueandRecoveryprogram;however,the
congurationisstoredintheregistry.WhentheRescueandRecoveryprogramisinstalled,itwillpopulate
theschedulerwiththeappropriatesettings.
Hereisadescriptionofthestructureforthescheduler:
Location:Installfolder.
Entryforeachscheduledtask.
Scripttorun.
Namedpipetobeusedforprogressnotications.Thisisanoptionalsetting.
Scheduleinformationmonthly,weekly,daily,weekday,orweekend-multipleschedules.Tuesdaysand
Fridaysforexample,canbesupportedbycreatingtwoschedules.
Parameterstopasstotasks.
FortheRescueandRecoveryprogram,performincrementalbackupsonschedule,withcallbacksbefore
andafterthebackup.
IntheRescueandRecoveryADMle,thereisanoptiontoconguretheScheduleTask1andScheduleTask
2settings.Thefollowingregistrykeysmustbeaddedforthescheduledtasks:

TheSysprepbackupoperationinWindows7isdifferentfromthatinWindowsXPorWindowsVista.This
isduetothenewversionWindowsREbuiltfromWindows7.Youcandownloadtheaccessorypackage
fromtheLenovoSupportWebsiteathttp://support.lenovo.com.Followthestepstoperformthecorrect
SysprepbackupoperationthroughGeneralizeoption.
OverviewofWindowsRE(RecoveryEnvironment)installationprocessinWindows7
UnlikeWindowsVista,WindowsREhasbeeninstalledtotheWindows7operatingsystem.Onasystem
installedusingthesetup.exele,priortoOOBE(Out-Of-BoxExperience),thedefaultWindowsREimage
(winre.wim)islocatedinthe\Windows\System32\Recoverysubdirectory.However,oncetheusercompletes
OOBE,thefollowingwillhappen:
1.ARecoveryfolderiscreatedonthesystempartition(Cpartition).
2.TheWinRE.wimleismovedtoC:\Recovery\(Subdirectory).
3.AnOSLoaderentryiscreatedforWindowsREintheBCD(BootCongurationData).
4.TheRecoverySequencesettingiscreatedintheWindows7objectintheBCD.
5.Other(undocumented)congurationlesareupdated.
