Customizingtherecoveryprocessiscontrolledwithmanifestles.TheBaseSoftwareAdministratorprogram
cancreatecustommanifestles.Manifestleshavetheextension.c,andcontaininformationaboutthe
componentswithintheservicepartitionwhereitresides.Manifestlesalsocontroltheselectionsavailable
totheuserduringacustomrecovery.Theinformationcontainedinamanifestleincludescomponent
categorizationsuchasrequired,optional,andrestricted.Inaddition,manifestlescontainmeta-data,
suchasdescriptionsandcomments.
Preinstallationsetup
Toaccomplishpreinstallationsetup,youcanusetheBaseSoftwareAdministratorprogramtocreate
personalizationles.Apersonalizationlehastheleextensionof.perandcontainsinformationneeded
toautomatethepreinstallationsetupforWindows.Therecoveryprocessreadsthepersonalizationle,
extractsthedatafromthepersonalizationleandplacesthedatainthecorrectWindowscontrolles.Y ou
cansavetimeandeffortbyusingtheBaseSoftwareAdministratorprogramtocustomizepersonalization
lesandthendeployingthosepersonalizationlesontousercomputers.Forexample,youcancreatea
personalizationletosettheTimeZoneforWindowsandthendeploythatpersonalizationletoausers
computer;therefore,auserwillnothavetomanuallyvalidatetheTimeZonesettings.
