Windowsoperatingsystem
IfyourWindowsoperatingsysteminstalledwithClientSecuritySolutionhasbeenreinstalled,touseClient
SecuritySolutiononthenewlyinstalledWindowsoperatingsystem,youneedtocleartheinstallationdataof
ClientSecuritySolutionandreinstallClientSecuritySolution.
Thebestpracticeis:
1.UninstallClientSecuritySolutionfromthecurrentWindowsoperatingsystem.
2.Restartthecomputer.
3.Clearthefollowingdataintheregistry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\TVTCommon\ClientSecuritySolution]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\ClientSecuritySolution]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Logs]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\Security\Debug]
4.ClearthedatarelatedwithClientSecuritySolutionintheCpartition.Itisrecommendedtosearchthe
datainthewholeCpartition,withtheoptionofviewingallhiddenlesintheFileOptionwindow
enabled.Theresultcanbefoundin,butnotlimitedto,thefollowinglocations:
C:\Users\AllUsers\AppData\Roaming\ClientSecuritySolution
C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Roaming\ClientSecuritySolution
5.ClearthesecuritychipinBIOSSetupUtilityandactivatethesecuritychipbydoingthefollowing:
a.Shutdownthecomputer.
b.TurnonthecomputerandpressF1toenterBIOSSetupUtility.
c.SelectSecurity.
d.PressEnterandselectClearSecurityChip.
e.PressEnterandselectY estoclearencryptionkeys.
f.SelectSecurityChipandpressEntertoselectActive.
Note:IfyoudonotwanttosetClientSecuritySolutionintohardwareTPMmode,setthesecurity
chiptoDisabled.
6.RestartthecomputerandreinstalltheClientSecuritySolutionprogram.
Note:WhenyouchangeClientSecuritySolutioninstallationmodefromsoftwareemulationmodeto
hardwareTPM-basedmode,orafterclearingthesecuritychip,ClientSecuritySolutionwilltrytorecover
existingdatawhenitdetectstheTPMchange,andwillfailbecausetheencrypteddatacannotbedecrypted
bynewTPMdata.Inthiscase,ClientSecuritySolutionwillfailtobelaunched.
