Wi-Fiisawirelessnetworkingtechnologythatprovidesnetworkaccessatdistancesofupto100meters
(328feet)dependingontheWi-Firouterandyoursurroundings.YoucanconnectanyThinkPadTabletto
aWi-Finetwork.
AWi-FiconnectionrequiresaccesstoafunctioningWirelessAccessPoint(WAP),alsocalledahotspot.
Somehotspotsareopentothepublic,butsomeothersimplementsecurityfeaturestolimitaccessto
specicgroupsorindividuals.
Note:TherangeandqualityoftheWi-Fisignalisaffectedbythenumberofconnecteddevices,the
infrastructure,andtheobjectsthroughwhichthesignalistransmitted.
ConnectingtoaWi-Finetwork
ToestablishaWi-Finetworkconnection,dothefollowing:
1.FromthemainHomescreen,touchtheAndroidSettingsicononLenovoLaunchZone,ortouchthe
applicationsiconfromtheactionbarandthentouchSettings.TheAndroidSettingsscreenopens.
2.TouchWireless&networks➙Wi-Fisettings.TouchWi-Fitoturniton.
3.AlistofavailablenetworksisdisplayedunderWi-Finetworks.TouchaWi-Finetworktoconnecttoit.
4.Ifthenetworkisopen,youarepromptedtoconrmthatyouwanttoconnecttothatnetworkby
touchingConnect.Ifthenetworkissecured,youarepromptedtotypeapasswordorothercredentials.
WhenyouareconnectedtoaWi-Finetwork,touchitsnameontheWi-Fisettingsscreenfordetailsabout
thespeed,security,address,andrelatedinformation.
AddingaWi-Finetwork
IfyouwanttoaccessaWi-Finetworkthatdoesnotbroadcastitsnetworkname(alsocalledaserviceset
identierorSSID),youmustaddthatWi-Finetworkbeforeyoucanconnecttoit.
ToaddaWi-Finetwork,dothefollowing:
1.FromthemainHomescreen,touchtheAndroidSettingsicononLenovoLaunchZone,ortouchthe
applicationsiconfromtheactionbarandthentouchSettings.TheAndroidSettingsscreenopens.
2.TouchWireless&networks➙Wi-Fisettings➙Wi-Fitoturniton.
3.ScrolltothebottomoftheWi-FisettingsscreenandtouchAddWi-Finetwork.
4.Typetherequiredinformationforthenetwork.
5.TouchSave.Theinformationaboutthenetworkissaved.TheWi-Ficonnectionwillbeestablished
automaticallythenexttimeyoucomewithintherangeofthisnetwork.
DisablinganautomaticWi-Ficonnection
IfyoudonotwantthetablettoautomaticallyconnecttoaspecicWi-Finetworkthatyouhadpreviously
congured,dothefollowing:
1.FromthemainHomescreen,touchtheAndroidSettingsicononLenovoLaunchZone,ortouchthe
applicationsiconfromtheactionbarandthentouchSettings.TheAndroidSettingsscreenopens.
2.TouchWireless&networks.
3.IftheWi-Fifunctionisoff,touchWi-Fitoturniton.
4.TouchthenameoftheWi-Finetwork.
