Yourcomputercansupportamaximumvideoresolutionofupto1920x1200(withanexternalmonitor
connectedtotheVGAconnector)orupto2560x1600(withanexternalmonitorconnectedtotheMini
DisplayPortconnectororThunderboltconnector),providedthattheexternalmonitoralsosupportsthat
resolution.Formoreinformationabouttheexternalmonitor,refertothemanualsprovidedwiththeexternal
monitor.
Youcansetanyresolutionforeitherthecomputerdisplayortheexternalmonitor.Whenyouusebothatthe
sametime,theresolutionofbothisthesame.Ifyousetahigherresolutionforthecomputerdisplay,you
canseeonlypartofthescreenatatime.YoucanseeotherpartsbymovingtheimagewiththeTrackPoint
pointingdeviceoranotherpointingdevice.
Youcanmovethedisplayoutputtothecomputerdisplay,theexternalmonitor,orbothintheDisplay
Settingswindow.
Connectinganexternalmonitor
Toconnectanexternalmonitor,dothefollowing:
1.ConnecttheexternalmonitortotheVGAconnector,MiniDisplayPortconnector,orThunderbolt
connectorofyourcomputer.
2.Connecttheexternalmonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
3.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
4.ChangethedisplayoutputlocationbypressingtheF7key.Thisenablesyoutoswitchbetweenviewing
outputontheexternalmonitor,thecomputermonitor,orbothmonitors.
Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,right-clickonthedesktop,thenselectScreen
resolution.ClicktheDetectbutton.
Notes:
•IfthemonitorconnectorisnotcompatiblewiththeMiniDisplayPortconnectororThunderboltconnector
onyourcomputer,youcanuseaconvertcabletoestablishtheconnection.Convertcablesareavailable
asoptionsfromLenovoathttp://www.lenovo.com/essentials.
•UseaMiniDisplayPortcertifiedcablewithMiniDisplayPorticon(
)toconnectthedevicefor
stablefunctionality.
Settingtheexternalmonitortype
Tosettheexternalmonitortype,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer,andthenconnectthemonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutton.
4.SelecttheexternalmonitorandsetResolution.
5.ClickAdvancedSettings.
6.ClicktheMonitortab.Checkthemonitorinformationtomakesurethatthemonitortypeiscorrect.Ifit
is,clickOKtoclosethewindow;otherwiseproceedwiththefollowingsteps.
7.Ifmorethantwomonitortypesaredisplayed,selectGenericPnPMonitororGenericNon-PnP
Monitor.
8.ClickProperties.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethepassword
orprovideconfirmation.
