Dependingonthemodel,yourcomputermighthaveanExpressCardslotfora34mm-widecard,amedia
cardreaderslot,orasmartcardreaderslot.
Ifyourcomputerhasamediacardreaderslot,itsupportsthefollowingcards:
•SecureDigital(SD)cards
•High-Capacity(SDHC)cards
•SecureDigitaleXtended-Capacity(SDXC)cards
•MultiMediaCard(MMC)modules
Notes:
•YourcomputerdoesnotsupporttheCPRMfeaturefortheSDcard.
•Whentransferringdatatoorfromaashmediacard,suchasanSDcard,donotputyourcomputerin
sleeporhibernationmodebeforethedatatransferiscomplete.Todosomightcausedamagetoyour
data.
InstallinganExpressCardmodule,aashmediacard,orasmartcard
Attention:
•Beforeyoustartinstallingacard,touchametaltableoragroundedmetalobject.Thisactionreducesany
staticelectricityfromyourbody.Thestaticelectricitycoulddamagethecard.
•DonotinsertanExpressCardwhilethecomputerisinsleepmodeorhibernationmode.Otherwise,the
computermightnotrespondwhenyoutrytoresumeusingit.
Toinstallacard,dothefollowing:
1.Locatetheappropriatetypeofslotforyourcard.See“Locatingcomputercontrols,connectors,
andindicators”onpage1.
2.Makesurethatthecardiscorrectlyoriented:
•ForExpressCard:Thenotchededgeofthecardisfacingupwardandpointingtowardtothecardslot.
•Forashmediacard:Themetalcontactsarefacingdownandpointingtowardthecardslot.
•Forsmartcard:Themetalcontactsarefacingupwardandpointingtowardthecardslot.
3.Pressthecardrmlyintothecardslot.
Iftheplug-and-playfeatureisnotenabledfortheinstalledExpressCardmodule,ashmediacard,or
smartcard,dothefollowingtoenablethefeature:
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.FromtheActionmenu,selectAddlegacyhardware.TheAddHardwareWizardstarts.
5.Followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
RemovinganExpressCardmodule,aashmediacard,orasmartcard
Attention:Beforeremovingacard,stopthecardrst.Otherwise,dataonthecardmightbecorruptedorlost.
