•Problem:Avolumeorbalanceslidercannotbemoved.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisxedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
•Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioprogramsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundprogramsareused.The
programsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareallowedtochangethesettings
themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallytheprogramhasslidersavailableto
controlthesoundfromwithintheprogram.
•Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
•Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundintheVolumeMixerwindow.
Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.Thisisbecausethebuilt-insynthesizersoftwaredoes
notsupportthecontrol.
•Problem:ThesoundcannotbeturnedoffcompletelyevenifyousettheVolumeMixeratminimum.
Solution:YoustillcanhearsomesoundeventhoughyouhavesettheVolumeMixeratminimum.Toturn
offthesoundcompletely,gototheVolumeMixerbyclickingthespeakericoninthetaskbar,thenclick
Mixer.ClicktheMutespeakericon.
•Problem:Whenyouconnectaheadphonetoyourcomputerwhileplayingsound,aspeakerdoesnot
producesoundintheMULTI-STREAMmodeatSmartAudio.
Solution:Oncetheheadphoneisattached,thestreamingisautomaticallyredirectedtoit.Ifyouwant
tolistentosoundfromthespeakersagain,besuretosetthosespeakersasthedefaultdevice.The
procedureisasfollows:
1.GotoControlPanelandclickHardwareandsound.
2.ClicktheSmartAudioicon.TheSmartAudiowindowopens.
3.Lookatthetabsofplaybackdevices.Ifyouhaveattachedaheadphone,theheadphonewillbe
automaticallysetasthedefaultdevice,andtheheadphonetabiconwillbechecked.
4.Tosetadifferentdeviceasthedefault,clickthespeakertab.ClicktheSetDefaultDevicedrop
downlistbox.SelectSetDefaultDevice.Thatspeakertabiconwillnowhaveacheckmark.
5.PlayanysoundbyuseofamusicprogramsuchasWindowsMediaPlayer.Makesurethatsound
comesfromthespeakers.

Solution:Gentlycleanthesurfaceofthereaderwithadry,soft,lint-freecloth.
