viewing concerns. The LCD should be replaced if the
number of missing, discolored, or lighted dots in any back-
ground is: 5 or more bright dots, 5 or more dark dots, or a
total of 9 or more bright and dark dots.
Replacing the System Board: When you
replace the system board, restore the computer serial
number using the VPD Data Utility and reassign the UUID
using the Flash UUID Utility in the ThinkPad 240X
ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance Diskette.
Note: Do not power off the computer while restoring the
VPD.
Important Notice
This computer uses special nylon-coated screws with
the following characteristics:
They maintain tight connections.
They do not easily come loose, even with shock
or vibration.
They need additional force to tighten.
They should be used only once.
Do the following when you service this computer:
Have a screw kit (10L1956) available.
Always use new screws if you are instructed.
Use a torque screwdriver (U.S. only) if you have
one.
