Enablingordisablingadevice
Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoenableordisableuseraccesstoadevice.
USBSupportUsethisoptiontoenableordisableaUSBconnector.WhenaUSBconnectoris
disabled,thedeviceconnectedtotheUSBconnectorcannotbeused.
SATAControllerWhenthisoptionissettoDisabled,thedeviceconnectedtotheSATAconnector(such
astheharddiskdriveortheopticaldrive)isdisabledandcannotbeaccessed.
Toenableordisableadevice,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage63.
2.Dependingonthedeviceyouwanttoenableordisable,dooneofthefollowing:
FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectDevicesUSBSetupandfollowtheinstructions
onthescreentoenableordisabletheUSBconnector(s)ofyourchoice.
FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectDevicesATADriveSetupSATAControllerto
enableordisablethedeviceconnectedtothecorrespondingSATAconnectoronthesystemboard.
3.SelectthedesiredsettingsandpressEnter.
4.PressEsctoreturntotheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu.Y oumighthavetopressEscseveraltimes.
5.PressF10tosavethenewsettingsandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.
Notes:
a.Ifyoudonotwanttosavethenewsettings,selectExitDiscardChangesandExit.
b.Ifyouwanttoreturntothedefaultsettings,pressF9orselectExitLoadOptimalDefaults.
Selectingastartupdevice
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotstartupfromadevice(suchasaharddiskdriveorthediscinanopticaldrive)as
expected,dooneofthefollowingtoselectthedesiredstartupdevice.
Selectingatemporarystartupdevice
Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoselectatemporarystartupdevice.Y oucanusetheinstructions
inthissectiontostartupfromanystartupdevice.
Note:Notalldiscsandharddiskdrivesarebootable.
Toselectatemporarystartupdevice,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffyourcomputer.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF12keywhenturningonthecomputer.WhentheStartupDevice
Menuopens,releasetheF12key.
3.SelectthedesiredstartupdeviceontheStartupDeviceMenuandpressEntertobegin.
