BeforeyouusetheEasyStartupDVD

FunctionalityandsupportedoperatingsystemscanvarywithdifferentversionsoftheEasyStartupprogram.

Tolearnmoreabouttheversionyouhave,dothefollowing:

1.InserttheThinkServerEasyStartupDVDandrestarttheserver.

2.AdvancetotheHomescreen.

3.ClickCompatabilitynotes.Thecompatabilitynotesfeatureprovidesdetailedinformationaboutthe

RAIDcontrollers,operatingsystems,andservercongurationssupportedbythatversionofthe

EasyStartupprogram.

4.ClickUserGuide.TheUserGuideprovidesanoverviewofthevariousfunctionsprovidedbythat

versionoftheEasyStartupprogram.

BeforeusingtheEasyStartupprogramtoinstallanoperatingsystem,makesureanyexternalstorage

devicesandberchannelsareconguredcorrectly.

Setupandconguration

WhenyoustarttheThinkServerEasyStartupDVD,youwillbepromptedforthefollowing:

•Selectthelanguageinwhichyouwanttoviewtheprogram.

•Selectthelanguageofthekeyboardyouwillbeusingwiththeprogram.

Note:Thefollowinglanguagekeyboardsaresupported:English,French,German,Spanish,Japanese,

Turkish,Italian,andDutch.YourThinkServerEasyStartupDVDmightbeEnglishonly.Inthiscase,the

keyboardlayoutshouldbeEnglish.

Youwillthenseeoneormoreremindersaboutconguringstoragedevices,andthenyouwillbepresented

withtheLenovoLicenseAgreement.Readthelicenseagreementcarefully.Youmustagreewithtermsin

ordertocontinue.

Afteragreeingtothelicenseagreement,youwillbegiventhefollowingchoices:

•Continuetothemainprograminterface

•Useashortcuttoinstallanoperatingsystembasedaresponselethatyoupreviouslycreatedusingthe

EasyStartupprogram

•UseashortcuttocongureRAIDcontrollersbasedonaRAIDresponselethatyoupreviouslycreated

usingtheEasyStartupprogram

Ifyoucontinuetothemainprograminterface,youwillhavethefollowingselectableoptions:

•Compatibilitynotes:ThisselectionprovidesinformationabouttheRAIDcontrollers,operatingsystems,

andservercongurationssupportedbythatversionoftheEasyStartupprogram.

•UserGuide:Thisselectionprovidesinformationaboutthefeaturesprovidedbythatversionofthe

EasyStartupprogram.

•Hardwarelist:ThisselectiondisplaysalistofhardwaredevicesdetectedbytheEasyStartupprogram.

•CongureRAID:ThisselectionenablesyoutoviewthecurrentRAIDcongurationforeachinstalled

RAIDcontrollerandmakechangesifneeded.

•Installoperatingsystem:Thisselectiondisplaysaseriesofchoicesandpromptstocollectinformation

requiredforinstallation,preparestheharddiskforinstallation,andtheninitiatestheinstallationprocess

usingtheuser-providedoperating-systeminstallationCDorDVD.
