This section describes the terminologies that are used in the document.
Terms
Description
Alert
The Alert feature alerts you when any unexpected event occurs. For example
unexpected activity between certain periods of the day, loss of video from camera, and
so on. You can define the timeframe within which an alert for the activity must be
reported.
Bit rate
Bit rate refers to the bits per unit time for the video stream. CBR refers to the constant
bit rate and VBR refers the variable bit rate.
Events
Events can be video loss, camera error, or storage error.
List View
List View shows a list of recordings in the Playback tab. Select any camera, date, and
time. The recorded videos from that camera within the selected date and time range
are listed.
Live View
Live View is the default view when you log on to the SecureMind Surveillance Manager
application. Live View shows the live stream from the camera. You must drag and drop
the camera over any quadrant to watch its live view.
Playback
Playback plays the videos recorded by the Surveillance Application. You must select a
camera, date, time, and the type of recording that you want to play.
SecureMind
Surveillance Manager
SecureMind Surveillance Manager application allows you to capture videos from IP and
USB cameras and store them on the NAS device.
Site Map
Site Map displays the types of cameras available for monitoring and recording in a tree
structure. They are fixed IP cameras, PTZ cameras, and USB cameras.
Timeline View
Timeline View shows a list of recordings in the Playback tab for a defined timeline. The
videos recorded are displayed on the timeline.
Video Loss
Video loss occurs if there is a communication failure with the camera or a loss of video
signal from the camera.
Camera Occlusion
Camera occlusion occurs when a camera’s field of view is blinded due to which the
video is either too dark or too bright.
Scene Change
Scene change alert is generated when the camera is repositioned to focus on another
scene.
