3. On the Enable Security dialog box, perform the following:
a. Username: Enter any suitable user name. Ensure that the length of the user name must not
exceed 32 characters and spaces are not allowed. This user name is required to log on to the NAS
device.
b. Password: Enter any suitable password. The password should be between 8 to 12 characters.
Spaces are not allowed.
c. Confirm Password: Confirm the password that you have entered in the Password field. If the
text in this field does not match with the text in the Password field, then an error is displayed.
d. Local Network Encryption (SSL): Select the required option. When security is turned on,
browser communications with the NAS device are encrypted.
e. Remote Network Encryption (SSL): Select the required option. It is recommended to select
Always when the application is accessed remotely.
Note: When security is first enabled, the browser may display a security warning that can be
ignored. You may also be asked to accept the signed certificate for the NAS device. For

4. Click Apply to enable security.
A key icon appears on the home page indicating that the security is enabled.
