rescuediscintotheopticaldriveandpressEnter.Therescuemediumstarts.
•IfyouhavecreatedarescuemediumusingaUSBharddiskdrive,usethefollowinginstructionsto
usetherescuemedium:
1.AttachtheUSBharddiskdrivetooneoftheUSBconnectorsonyourcomputer.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF12keywhenturningonthecomputer.WhentheStartupDevice
Menuopens,releasetheF12key.
3.OntheStartupDeviceMenu,selecttheUSBharddiskdriveastherstbootdeviceandpressEnter.
Therescuemediumstarts.
•Ifyouhavecreatedarescuemediumusingthesecondaryinternalharddiskdrive,setthesecondary
internalharddiskdriveastherstbootdeviceinthestartupdevicesequencetostarttherescuemedium.

Whentherescuemediumstarts,theRescueandRecoveryworkspaceopens.Thehelpinformationfor
eachfeatureisavailablefromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace.Followtheinstructionstocomplete
therecoveryprocess.
Installingorreinstallingdevicedrivers
Beforeinstallingorreinstallingdevicedrivers,makesurethatyouhaveapreinstalledoperatingsystemand
thedocumentationandsoftwaremediaforthedevice.
Devicedriversforfactory-installeddevicesarelocatedonthecomputerharddiskdrive(usuallydriveC:)
intheSWTOOLS\DRIVERSsubdirectory.Thelatestdevicedriversforfactory-installeddevicesarealso
availableathttp://www.lenovo.com/support.Otherdevicedriversareonthesoftwaremediathatcome
withindividualdevices.
Toinstallorreinstallthedevicedriverforafactory-installeddevice,dothefollowing:
1.Turnonthecomputer.
2.UseWindowsExplorerorMyComputertodisplaythedirectorystructureofyourharddiskdrive.
3.GototheC:\SWTOOLSdirectory.
4.OpentheDRIVERSfolder.WithintheDRIVERSfolder,thereareseveralsubfoldersnamedforvarious
devicesinstalledinyourcomputer,suchasAUDIOorVIDEO.
5.Opentheappropriatedevicesubfolder.
6.Dooneofthefollowing:
•Inthedevicesubfolder,lookforaSETUP .exele.Double-clicktheleandfollowtheinstructionson
thescreentocompletetheinstallation.
•Inthedevicesubfolder,lookforaREADME.txtleoralewiththe.txtextension.Thislemightbe
namedaftertheoperatingsystem,suchasWIN98.txt.TheTXTlecontainsinformationabouthowto
installthedevicedriver.Followtheinstructionstocompletetheinstallation.
•Ifthedevicesubfoldercontainsalewiththe.infextensionandyouwanttoinstallthedevicedriver
usingtheINFle,refertoyourWindowsHelpandSupportinformationsystemfordetailedinformation
abouthowtoinstallthedevicedriver.
