(RAID)arrays.Besuretousethisprogramasdescribedinthisdocument.
•UsetheLSICongurationUtilityprogramtoperformthefollowingtasks:
–Performalow-levelformatonaharddiskdrive
–Createanarrayofharddiskdriveswithorwithoutahot-sparedrive
–Setprotocolparametersonharddiskdrives
TheintegratedSAS/SATAcontrollerwithRAIDcapabilitiessupportsRAIDarrays.YoucanusetheLSI
CongurationUtilityprogramtocongureRAID1(IM),RAID1E(IME),andRAID0(IS)forasinglepairof
attacheddevices.IfyouinstalladifferenttypeofRAIDcontroller,followtheinstructionsinthedocumentation
thatcomeswiththeadaptertovieworchangesettingsforattacheddevices.
WhenyouareusingtheLSICongurationUtilityprogramtocongureandmanagearrays,considerthe
followinginformation:
•TheintegratedSAS/SATAcontrollerwithRAIDcapabilitiessupportsthefollowingfeatures:
–IntegratedMirroring(IM)withhot-sparesupport(alsoknownasRAID1)Usethisoptiontocreatean
integratedarrayoftwodisksplusuptotwooptionalhotspares.Alldataontheprimarydiskcanbe
migrated.
–IntegratedMirroringEnhanced(IME)withhot-sparesupport(alsoknownasRAID1E)Usethisoptionto
createanintegratedmirrorenhancedarrayofthreetoeightdisks,includinguptotwooptionalhot
spares.Alldataonthearraydiskswillbedeleted.
–IntegratedStriping(IS)(alsoknownasRAID0)Usethisoptiontocreateanintegratedstripingarray
oftwotoeightdisks.Alldataonthearraydiskswillbedeleted.
•Harddiskdrivecapacitiesaffecthowyoucreatearrays.Thedrivesinanarraycanhavedifferent
capacities,buttheRAIDcontrollertreatsthemasiftheyallhavethecapacityofthesmallestharddisk
drive.
•IfyouuseanintegratedSAS/SATAcontrollerwithRAIDcapabilitiestocongureaRAID1(mirrored)array
afteryouhaveinstalledtheoperatingsystem,youwillloseaccesstoanydataorapplicationsthatwere
previouslystoredonthesecondarydriveofthemirroredpair.
•IfyouinstalladifferenttypeofRAIDcontroller,seethedocumentationthatcomeswiththecontrollerfor
informationaboutviewingandchangingsettingsforattacheddevices.
StartingtheLSICongurationUtilityprogram
TostarttheLSICongurationUtilityprogram,completethefollowingsteps:
