Passwords

Ifyousetonlyapower-onpassword,youmusttypethepower-onpasswordtocompletethesystemstartup;
youhaveaccesstothefullConguration/SetupUtilitymenu.
Anadministratorpasswordisintendedtobeusedbyasystemadministrator;itlimitsaccesstothefull
Conguration/SetupUtilitymenu.Ifyousetonlyanadministratorpassword,youdonothavetotypea
passwordtocompletethesystemstartup,butyoumusttypetheadministratorpasswordtoaccessthe
Conguration/SetupUtilitymenu.
Ifyousetapower-onpasswordforauserandanadministratorpasswordforasystemadministrator,youcan
typeeitherpasswordtocompletethesystemstartup.Asystemadministratorwhotypestheadministrator
passwordhasaccesstothefullConguration/SetupUtilitymenu;thesystemadministratorcangivetheuser
authoritytoset,change,anddeletethepower-onpassword.Auserwhotypesthepower-onpassword
hasaccesstoonlythelimitedConguration/SetupUtilitymenu;theusercanset,change,anddeletethe
power-onpassword,ifthesystemadministratorhasgiventheuserthatauthority.
Power-onpassword
Ifapower-onpasswordisset,whenyouturnontheserver,thesystemstartupwillnotbecompleteduntil
youtypethepower-onpassword.Youcanuseanycombinationofuptosevencharacters(A-Z,a-z,
and0-9)forthepassword.
Ifapower-onpasswordisset,youcanenabletheUnattendedStartmode,inwhichthekeyboardand
mouseremainlockedbuttheoperatingsystemcanstart.Youcanunlockthekeyboardandmouseby
typingthepower-onpassword.
Ifyouforgetthepower-onpassword,youcanregainaccesstotheserverinanyofthefollowingways:
•Ifanadministratorpasswordisset,typetheadministratorpasswordatthepasswordprompt(see
“Administratorpassword”onpage201
).StarttheConguration/SetupUtilityprogramandresetthe
power-onpassword.
•Removethebatteryfromtheserverandthenreinstallit.Forinstructionsforremovingthebattery,see
