InstallingaDVDdrive
Thefollowingnotesdescribethetypeofdrivesthattheserversupportsandotherinformationthatyoumust
considerwhenyouinstallaDVDdrive.
•Locatethedocumentationthatcomeswiththedriveandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditiontothe
instructionsinthischapter.
•Makesurethatyouhaveallthecablesandotherequipmentthatarespeciedinthedocumentationthat
comeswiththedrive.
•Theserversupportsoneultra-slimSATADVDdrive.
ToinstallaDVDdrive,completethefollowingsteps:
1.Readthesafetyinformationin“ImportantSafetyInformation”onpage1and“Guidelinesfortrained
servicetechnicians”onpage115.
2.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevicesanddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
3.Removethecover(see“Removingandinstallingthecover”onpage119).
4.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthenewDVDdrivetoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver;then,removethedrivefromthepackageandplaceitonastatic-protectivesurface.
5.Followtheinstructionsthatcomewiththedrivetosetanyjumpersorswitches.
6.Attachthedrive-retentionclip1thatyouremovedfromthefailingdrivetothesideofthenewDVDdrive.
