Toreplacedamagedorcontaminatedthermalgreaseonthemicroprocessorandheatsink,completethe
followingsteps:
1.Placetheheatsinkonacleanworksurface.
2.Removethecleaningpadfromitspackageandunfolditcompletely.
3.Usethecleaningpadtowipethethermalgreasefromthebottomoftheheatsink.
Note:Makesurethatallofthethermalgreaseisremoved.
4.Useacleanareaofthecleaningpadtowipethethermalgreasefromthemicroprocessor;then,dispose
ofthecleaningpadafterallofthethermalgreaseisremoved.
5.Usethethermal-greasesyringetoplace9uniformlyspaceddots1of0.02mLeachonthetopof
themicroprocessor2.Makesurethattheoutermostdotsarewithin5mmoftheedge,toensure
evendistribution.
Note:0.01mLisonetickmarkonthesyringe.Ifthegreaseisproperlyapplied,approximatelyhalf
(0.22mL)ofthegreasewillremaininthesyringe.
6.Installtheheatsinkontothemicroprocessorasdescribedin“Installingthemicroprocessoronpage141.
Replacingthesystemboard
Toreplacethesystemboard,usethefollowingprocedures:

Note:Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,youmusteitherupdatetheserverwiththelatestrmwareor
restorethepre-existingrmwarethatthecustomerprovidesonadisketteorCDimage.Makesurethatyou
havethelatestrmwareoracopyofthepre-existingrmwarebeforeyouproceed.
Toremovethesystemboard,completethefollowingsteps
