5.Removetheheatsink.
CAUTION:
Theheatsinkmaybecomeveryhotduringnormaloperation.Allowtimefortheheatsinktocool
downbeforeyoutouchit.
a.Loosenthescrewononesideoftheheatsinktobreakthesealwiththemicroprocessor.
b.Pressrmlyonthecaptivescrewsandloosenthemwithascrewdriver.
c.Useyourngerstogentlypulltheheatsinkfromthemicroprocessor.
6.Lifttheheatsinkoutoftheserver.Afterremoval,placetheheatsinkonitssideonaclean,atsurface.
7.Releasethemicroprocessorretentionlatch2bypressingdownontheend,movingittotheside,and
releasingittotheopen(up)position.
8.Openthemicroprocessorbracketframe3byliftingupthetabonthetopedge.Keepthebracket
frameintheopenposition.
Attention:Handlethemicroprocessorcarefully.Droppingthemicroprocessorduringremovalcan
damagethecontacts.Also,contaminantsonthemicroprocessorcontacts,suchasoilfromyourskin,
cancauseconnectionfailuresbetweenthecontactsandthesocket.
9.Removethemicroprocessor:
a.Carefullyliftthemicroprocessor1straightupandoutofthesocket,withouttouchingthe
microprocessorcontacts.
b.Placethemicroprocessoronastatic-protectivesurface
