Theamountofsystemmemory
thatisdisplayedislessthan
theamountofinstalledphysical
memory.
1.Makesurethat:
•NoerrorLEDsarelitontheoperatorinformationpanel.
•Thememorymodulesareseatedcorrectly.
•Youhaveinstalledthecorrecttypeofmemory.
•Allbanksofmemoryareenabled.Theservermighthaveautomatically
disabledamemorybankwhenitdetectedaproblem.
2.CheckthePOSTerrorlog:
•IfaDIMMwasdisabledbyasystems-managementinterrupt(SMI),replace
theDIMM.
3.Runmemorydiagnostics(see“Diagnostictools”onpage17).
4.Makesurethatthereisnomemorymismatchwhentheserverisattheminimum
memoryconguration.
5.AddonepairofDIMMsatatime,makingsurethattheDIMMsineachpairmatch.
6.ReseattheDIMM.
7.Replacethefollowingcomponentsoneatatime,intheordershown,restarting
theservereachtime:
a.DIMMs
b.(Trainedservicetechnicianonly)Replacethesystemboard
MultiplerowsofDIMMsina
branchareidentiedasfailing.
1.ReseattheDIMMs;then,restarttheserver.
2.ReplacethefailingDIMM.
