SymptomAction
Anewlyinstalledharddisk
driveisnotrecognized.
1.ObservetheassociatedamberharddiskdrivestatusLED.IftheLEDislit,it
indicatesadrivefault.
2.IftheLEDislit,removethedrivefromthebay,wait45seconds,andreinsert
thedrive,makingsurethatthedriveassemblyconnectstotheharddiskdrive
backplane.
3.ObservetheassociatedgreenharddiskdriveactivityLEDandtheamberstatus
LED:
•IfthegreenactivityLEDisashingandtheamberstatusLEDisnotlit,the
driveisrecognizedbythecontrollerandisworkingcorrectly.RuntheDSA
harddiskdrivetesttodeterminewhetherthedriveisdetected.
•IfthegreenactivityLEDisashingandtheamberstatusLEDisashing
slowly,thedriveisrecognizedbythecontrollerandisrebuilding.
•IfneitherLEDislitorashing,checktheharddiskdrivebackplane(goto
step4onpage49
).
•IfthegreenactivityLEDisashingandtheamberstatusLEDislit,replacethe
drive.IftheactivityoftheLEDsremainsthesame,gotostep4onpage49.If
theactivityoftheLEDschanges,returntostep1onpage49.
4.Makesurethattheharddiskdrivebackplaneiscorrectlyseated.Whenitis
correctlyseated,thedriveassembliescorrectlyconnecttothebackplanewithout
bowingorcausingmovementofthebackplane.
