EnablingandconguringSerialoverLAN(SOL)
EstablishaSerialoverLAN(SOL)connectiontomanageserversfromaremotelocation.Youcanremotely
viewandchangetheBIOSsettings,restarttheserver,identifytheserver,andperformothermanagement
functions.AnystandardTelnetclientapplicationcanaccesstheSOLconnection.
ToenableandconguretheserverforSOL,youmustupdateandconguretheUEFIcode;updateand
conguretheintegratedmanagementmodule(IMM)rmware;updateandconguretheEthernetcontroller
rmware;andenabletheoperatingsystemforanSOLconnection.
UEFIupdateandconguration
ToupdateandconguretheUEFIcodetoenableSOL,completethefollowingsteps:
1.UpdatetheUEFIcode:
a.DownloadthelatestversionoftheUEFIcodefromhttp://www.lenovo.com/support.
b.UpdatetheUEFIcode,followingtheinstructionsthatcomewiththeupdatelethatyoudownloaded.
2.UpdatetheIMMrmware:
a.DownloadthelatestversionoftheIMMrmwarefromhttp://www.lenovo.com/support.
b.UpdatetheIMMrmware,followingtheinstructionsthatcomewiththeupdatelethatyou
downloaded.
3.ConguretheUEFIsettings:
a.WhenyouarepromptedtostarttheConguration/SetupUtilityprogram,restarttheserverand
pressF1.
b.SelectSystemSettings®DevicesandI/OPorts.
c.SelectConsoleRedirectionSettings;then,makesurethatthevaluesaresetasfollows:
