connectors”onpage109forthelocationoftheconnector).Usethefollowingprocedurestoinstallthe

controllerifyourservermodeldidnotcomewiththiscontrollerinstalledortoreplaceafailingcontroller.

2.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnectthepowercordandallexternalcables.

Note:Whenyoudisconnectthepowersourcefromtheserver,youlosetheabilitytoviewtheLEDs

becausetheLEDsarenotlitwhenthepowersourceisremoved.Beforeyoudisconnectthepower

source,makeanoteofwhichLEDsarelit,includingtheLEDsthatarelitontheoperationinformation

panelandLEDsinsidetheserveronthesystemboard.

3.Removetheserverfromtherackandplaceitonaat,static-protectivesurface.

4.Removethecover(see“Removingandinstallingthecover”onpage119).
