Installingthepowersupply

Toinstallthereplacementpowersupply,completethefollowingsteps:

1.Readthesafetyinformationin“ImportantSafetyInformation”onpage1and“Guidelinesfortrained

servicetechnicians”onpage115

2.Placethenewpowersupplyintothechassis.

3.Tightenthecaptivethumbscrewthatsecuresthepowersupplytothechassisbottom.

4.Replacethescrewthatholdsthepowersupplytotherearofthechassis.

5.Connecttheinternalpower-supplycablesfromthepowersupplytothepowerconnectorsonthesystem

board.See“System-boardinternalconnectors”onpage108forthelocationsofthepowerconnectors

onthesystemboard.

•Forpowersupplywithoutadvancedenergymanagement,connectthepowercablestopower

connectors1and2onthesystemboard.

•Forhigh-efcientpowersupplywithadvancedenergymanage,connectthepowercablestopower

connectors1,2,3,and4onthesystemboard.

6.Routetheinternalpower-supplycables,securingthemwiththeretention-clips.

7.Testthepowersupply:

a.Connectoneendoftheacpowercordforthenewpowersupplyintotheconnectoronthebackofthe

powersupply,andconnecttheotherendofthepowercordintoaproperlygroundedelectricaloutlet.

b.MakesurethatthestandbypowerLEDonthesystemboardislit(see“System-boardLEDs”onpage

);ifthestandbypowerLEDisnotlit,discontinuethisprocedureandobtainanewpowersupply.

c.Pressthepower-controlbutton.Makesurethatthepower-onLEDonthefrontoftheserverislit.

Iftheserverstarts,proceedtostep.Iftheserverdoesnotstart,disconnecttheacpowercordand

callforservice.
