Attention:Donottouchthethermalmaterialonthebottomoftheheatsink.Touchingthethermal
materialwillcontaminateit.Ifthethermalmaterialonthemicroprocessororheatsinkbecomes
contaminated,contactyourservicetechnician.
a.Makesurethatthethermalmaterialisstillonthebottomoftheheatsink;then,aligntheheat
sinksothatthearrowsonthelabelpointtowardtheDIMMsandplacetheheatsinkontopofthe
microprocessor,thermalmaterialsidedown.
b.Alignthescrewholes1ontheheatsinkwiththeholesonthesystemboard3Followingisan
illustrationoftheheatsinkorientation.

c.Tightenthescrewswithascrewdriver,alternatingamongthescrewsuntiltheyaretight.Ifpossible,
eachscrewshouldberotatedtwofullrotationsatatime.Repeatuntilthescrewsaretight.Donot
overtightenthescrewsbyusingexcessiveforce.

Thermalgrease
Thethermalgreasemustbereplacedwhenevertheheatsinkhasbeenremovedfromthetopofthe
microprocessorandisgoingtobereusedorwhendebrisisfoundinthegrease.
Whenyouareinstallingtheheatsinkonthesamemicroprocessorthatiswasremovedfrom,makesure
thatthefollowingrequirementsaremet:
•Thethermalgreaseontheheatsinkandmicroprocessorisnotcontaminated.
•Additionalthermalgreaseisnotaddedtotheexistingthermalgreaseontheheatsinkandmicroprocessor.
