•Mostsoftwareprogramshavebuilt-inhelpsystemsthatprovideinstructionsformosttasks.Ifyouare
havingdifcultyperformingaspecictaskwithinasoftwareprogram,refertothehelpsystemforthat
program.Helpsystemsaretypicallyaccessiblefromamenuorbuttonintheprogram,andfrequently
fromtheF1key.
•IfyouarehavingdifcultywiththeWindowsoperatingsystemoroneofitscomponents,refertothe
Windowshelpsystem.ItisaccessiblefromtheWindowsStartmenu.
•Todetermineifproblemsarecausedbynewlyinstalledsoftware,verifythat:
–Yourcomputerhastheminimummemoryrequirementsneededtousethesoftware.Seethe
informationsuppliedwiththesoftwaretoverifymemoryrequirements.(Ifyoujustinstalledanadapter
ormemory,youmighthaveamemory-addressconict.)
–Thesoftwareisdesignedtooperateonyourcomputer.
–Othersoftwareworksonyourcomputer.
–Thesoftwareyouareusingworkscorrectlyonanothercomputer.
•Ifyoureceivedanyerrormessageswhileusingthesoftwareprogram,seetheprinteddocumentation
suppliedwiththesoftwareorthehelpsystemforthatsoftwareforadescriptionofthemessagesand
solutionstotheproblem.
•Checkwithyoursoftwaremanufacturertoseeifanyupdatesareavailable.Manysoftwaremanufacturers
makeupdatesavailablefromtheWorldWideWeb.
•Ifthesoftwareprogramusedtoworkcorrectly,butdoesnotworkcorrectlynow,clickStart➙Control
Panel➙SystemandSecurity➙System➙SystemProtection➙SystemRestore.
•Ifyouareunabletoresolvetheproblemthroughothermethods,uninstallthesoftwareprogramand
reinstallit.
Iftheseactionsdonotcorrecttheproblem,youmightneedtechnicalassistance.Contactyoursoftware

USBproblems
Symptom:TheUSBconnectorscannotbeaccessed.
Actions:
•MakesuretheUSBcableissecurelyconnectedtotheUSBconnectorandtotheUSBdevice.IftheUSB
devicehasitsownpowercord,makesureitisattachedtoaproperlygroundedelectricaloutlet.
•IftheUSBdevicehasitsownOn/Offswitch,makesureitisintheOnposition.
•IftheUSBdevicehasanOnlineswitch,makesureitisintheOnlineposition.
•IftheUSBdeviceisaprinter,makesurepaperisloadedcorrectly.
•MakesureanydevicedriversorothersoftwaresuppliedwiththeUSBdeviceiscorrectlyinstalled.
RefertothedocumentationfortheUSBdevice.
•ResetthedevicebydetachingandreattachingtheUSBconnector.
