Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplacetheheatsinkandfanassembly.
CAUTION:
Theheatsinkandfanassemblymightbeveryhot.Turnoffthecomputerandwaitthree
toveminutestoletthecomputercoolbeforeremovingthecomputercover.
Toreplacetheheatsinkandfanassembly,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputeranddisconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutlets.
2.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecomputercoveronpage14.
3.Laythecomputeronitssideforeasieraccesstothesystemboard.
4.Locatetheheatsinkandfanassembly.See“Locatingpartsonthesystemboard”onpage10.
5.Disconnecttheheatsinkandfanassemblycablefromthemicroprocessorfanconnectoronthesystem
board.See“Locatingpartsonthesystemboard”onpage10.
6.Carefullyremovethefourscrews1thatsecuretheheatsinkandfanassemblytothesystemboard.
Note:Carefullyremovethefourscrewsfromthesystemboardtoavoidanypossibledamagetothe
systemboard.Thefourscrewscannotberemovedfromtheheatsinkandfanassembly.
