UsingtheSetupUtilityprogram

ThistopicprovidesinformationaboutusingtheSetupUtilityprogram.

TheSetupUtilityprogramispartoftheserverrmware.YoucanusetheSetupUtilityprogramtoviewand

changethecongurationsettingsofyourserver,regardlessofwhichoperatingsystemyouareusing.

However,theoperatingsystemsettingsmightoverrideanysimilarsettingsintheSetupUtilityprogram.

StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram

ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtostarttheSetupUtilityprogram.

TostarttheSetupUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:

1.Connecttheservertoanacpowersourceandpressthepowerswitchonthefrontpaneltoturnonthe

server.See“Turningontheserver”onpage51

2.PresstheF1keyassoonasyouseethelogoscreen.Then,waitforseveralseconds,andtheSetup

Utilityprogramopens.Ifyouhavesetapassword,youneedtotypethecorrectpasswordtoenterthe

SetupUtilityprogram.Forpasswordinformation,see“Usingpasswords”onpage57.

ViewinginformationintheSetupUtilityprogram

TheSetupUtilityprogrammenulistsvariousitemsaboutthesystemconguration.Selectadesireditem

toviewinformationorchangesettings.

WhenworkingwiththeSetupUtilityprogram,youmustusethekeyboard.Thekeysusedtoperformvarious

tasksaredisplayedontherightbottompaneofeachscreen.YoualsocanpresstheF1keyforgeneralhelp

aboutthekeys.Formostitems,thecorrespondinghelpmessageisdisplayedontherighttoppaneofthe

screenwhentheitemisselected.Iftheitemhassubmenus,youcandisplaythesubmenusbypressingEnter.

YoucanviewthefollowinginformationaboutyourspecicservermodelintheSetupUtilityprogram:

•TheMainmenulistsinformationabouttheBIOSandTMM(alsoknownasBMC),totalmemorysize,and

systemdateandtime.

•OntheAdvancedmenu:

–SelectProcessorCongurationandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentoviewinformationabout

theinstalledmicroprocessoranditssupportedtechnologies.

–SelectMemoryCongurationandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentoviewinformationaboutthe

installedmemorymodules.

–SelectSATA/SASCongurationandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentoviewinformationabout

theinstalledSATAorSASdevices,suchasaharddiskdriveoranopticaldrive.
