6. Cleaning and Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning the instrument
Work surface
• Allcommon laboratorycleaningproductssuitableforthe removalofparaffin
(e.g. Paraguard or xylene substitutes) can be used to clean the work area.
Instrument and exterior surfaces
• Ifnecessary,cleanthepaintedexteriorsurfaceswithamildhouseholdcleaneror
soapy water and wipe with a damp cloth.
• Avoidprolongedcontactoforganicsolventsonthesurfaceoftheinstrument.Donot
use xylol or acetone on the painted surfaces!
6.2 Maintenance instructions
Pleaseobservethefollowingpointstoensuretheinstrument'sreliablefunctionover
extended periods:
• Cleantheinstrumentwithcaredaily.
• Regularlyremovedustfromtheventilationslotsonthebackoftheinstrumentwitha
brush or vacuum cleaner.
• HavetheinstrumentinspectedatleastonceayearbyanauthorizedLeicacustomer
service technician.
• Enterintoaservicecontractattheendofthewarrantyperiod.Formoreinformation,
contact the relevant Leica customer service organization.
Switch off the instrument each time before cleaning and pull out the power plug.
While handling cleaning materials, observe the safety regulations of the manufacturer and the
lab regulations valid in the country of use.
During cleaning, do not allow any liquid to penetrate inside the instrument!
To prevent scratching the surface of the instrument, do not use metallic tools with sharp edges
under any circumstances.
Only Leica service technicians are authorized to open the instrument for maintenance and
repair work.
