3. Instrument Components and Specications
The following reagents may be used in the Leica ASP6025:
Fixation
Formalin 3.7 % (buered and unbuered)
Dehydration
100 % ethanol
Ethanol diluted with water
Ethanol 99 % (denatured)
Isopropanol 99 % (also used as Intermedium)
Isopropanol diluted with water
< 50 % methanol
Intermedium
Xylene (or xylene substitutes)
Isopropanol 99 %
Toluene
Rotihistol (based on limonene)
Roticlear (based on aliphatic, naphthenic hydrocarbons)
ST Ultra (based on hydrocarbons)

Paranizing
Paran, approved for histological application
Reagents for external cleaning
Paran remover by Medite
1 % HCl-ethanol (based on 70 % ethanol)
Surface cleaners for plastic (Poliboy)
Paraguard by Polysciences
Reagents for retort cleaning (extended cleaning)
Disinfectants based on aqua dest. (e.g. Incidin, Dextran 31, Eodisin)
3.3 Compatible reagents
Use of the ASP6025 is permitted with the reagents specied only. Reagents and protocols must be vali-
dated before use, i.e. tissue processing with patient tissue for diagnostics, by the laboratory itself ac-
cording to the local or regional accreditation requirements. Reagents other than those listed here may
cause severe damage to the components of the instrument.
Acetone, benzene, chloroform and trichlorethane must NOT be used!
