Installation Sheet
STEP 3: Disconnect the wires from the existing outlet.
TIP: You can often opt to pull a wire from its position rather than cutting it,
keeping the looped shape at the end to make it easier to connect to the new outlet.
This method helps ensure you don’t cut the wires too short.
STEP 4: If you elected to cut the wires when disconnecting
from the existing outlet, now you need to strip them to ½” (there
is a gauge on the device strap to make it easier to measure)
before you attach them to the new outlet. Otherwise, simply
attach all wires per the Installation Instructions.
TIP: To make it all easier to manage, and fit back neatly in the wall, we highly
recommend folding the wires (see image example) before connecting them. Or,
if the wires were folded within the box before you removed the existing outlet,
you might be able to maintain the fold while installing the new outlet for an easier
return into the wall.
STEP 5: Once all the wires are installed at the proper locations,
tighten each terminal screw.
STEP 6: Now, gently push the folded wires back into the wall
and screw the outlet into the wall box.
STEP 7: Screw the wall plate subframe to the device and simply
snap on the screwless wall plate for a sleek finishing touch.
STEP 8: Turn the power back on at the breaker. Press the
Reset button on the outlet and test the GFCI USB Outlet per
the Installation Instructions. Now you have power and built-in
charging, along with Legrand’s industry-leading ground fault
protection to help keep you and your family safe.
* GFCI protection is required by National Electrical Code in bathrooms, kitchens,
garages, basements, outdoor areas, and for any other outlets found within six feet
of a sink or water source.
