Firefighters should wear self-contained breathing equipment in addition to normal personal pro- tective
equipment. Do not allow run off from fire fighting procedures to enter public waterways.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS:
Closed containers may build pressure from heat. Dust residues can potentially form explosive
mixtures with air. Use adequate ventilation with clean-up procedures. Burning liquid can float
on water and spread further.

ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion.
EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE / ACUTE OVEREXPOSURE:
Eyes: May cause severe eye irritation which can result in irreversible damage.
Inhalation: May cause headaches, dizziness, nausea vomiting and perhaps loss of consciousness.
Vapors may be irritating to eyes, nose and throat.
Skin: May cause irritation of skin and/or systemic effects by absorption.
Ingestion: May result in vomiting; aspiration of vomitus must be avoided as liquid contact with
the lungs can result in chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema/hemorrhage. Have patient
drink large amounts of water; contact a physician.
UNUSUAL CHRONIC TOXICITY:
Prolonged or repeated contact over many years in the absence of good hygiene and personal
protection may lead to changes in skin pigmentation and skin tumors and cancer of the skin,
lungs, kidney or bladder.
EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
Eyes: Immediately flush with clean water for 15 minutes while holding eyelids open; consult a
physician.
Inhalation: If overcome by mist or vapor, remove from exposure immediately; call a physician.
If breathing is stopped or irregular, start resuscitation, administer oxygen.
Skin: Remove any contaminated clothing and wash skin with soap and warm water. Vegetable
or mineral oil can remove dry material.
