Green laser technology
Over what distance a laser is
visible to the eye depends on
the colour or wavelength of the
laser beam. This has to do with
the physiology of the human
eye – green appears brighter
to us than red. Depending on
the ambient light conditions,
therefore, green lasers are many
times more visible than red ones
– and indeed indoors, up to
12 times more.
Unlike red lasers, green laser light can only be generated
indirectly. This limits working temperature such that green
lasers are darker outside a temperature range of 0 – 40° C
or 0 – 50 °C. Energy consumption is also greater, this
reduces battery operating time.
