SAFETY OVERVIEW
Priortostartingthe installationprocess,youmustdevelopandlaunchaninstaller
safetytrainingplanforinitial,refresherandongoingsafetytraining.Ensurethat
installersreceiveappropriateinitialandrefreshertrainingtomeettheirspecific
safetyrelatedresponsibilities.Youmustprovidesafetytrainingwhen
•Anexistinginstallerassumesnewduties
forwhichheorshehasnot
previouslyreceivedtraining
•Newprocessesandmethodologiesrepresentingnewrisksareintroduced
intotheinstallationenvironment
•Previouslyunidentifiedrisksarereported.
Theinstallationsupervisoryteamassumesresponsibilityforensuringthat
installersareproperlytrained,authorized,andcontinuallyqualifiedtoperform
theirwork.Theteammust
alsotakeresponsibilityforthesafetyoftheirinstallers
andtoassuresafeworkmethodologies.Installersmustunderstandthattheir
supervisorʹsresponsibilitydoesnotrelievethemfromtheirindividual
responsibilitytoperformtheworksafelyandtofollowallsafetyrulesand
proceduresapplicabletotheirwork.
ABOUT THE CELLNET NETWORK
TheCellnetAutomatedMeterInfrastructure(AMI)networktransfers
informationfromanumberofendpoints,usuallydistributedoveralarge
geographicalareatoabackendhost.Themostcommonendpointsarefrom
electrical,gasandwatermeters.ThenetworkincludesaRadioFrequency(RF)
WideAreaNetwork(WAN)andanRF
LocalAreaNetwork(LAN).TheWAN
includesTakeOutPoints(TOPs),repeaters,andconcentrators.TheLANisthe
radiofrequency(RF)linkbetweentheconcentratorandCellnetendpoints.
