LANCOM Advanced VoIP Client documentation.

Technical Terms
.

Examples of Valid Numbers
1.3 Line
The term “Line” refers to a potential telephone connection, which can be used
to place your telephone calls. Due to the fact that LANCOM Advanced VoIP
Client uses the IP protocol or SIP protocol to transmit telephone calls, this
new IP telephony is not connected to an actual “cable connection” for each
telephone call. On the contrary; it enables you to carry out several
independent calls simultaneously via your network connection. LANCOM
Advanced VoIP Client continues to use the familiar term “Line” for the
“logical” connection option for a telephone call, even though a “physical” line
is no longer required for this connection. This concept allows you, on the one
hand, to continue to use the practical and simple term “Line” – a subscriber

be known there under the user name TOMMY.
