Hands-free system
Text messages
The hands-free system supports sending and
receiving text messages.
Reading text messages
Go to Messages Read message to
view received text messages.
Having a text message read out
Go to Messages Read message and
select the option Read out to select received
text messages.
Sending a text message
1. In the main menu, select Messages.
2. Select New message.
3. Select a text message from the templates
listed.
4. Enter the recipient's phone number or se-
lect the number from the phone book and
confirm with the green button on the radio
remote control.
iPod
®
player
To connect an iPod
®
to the hands-free system,
you need an iPod
®
adapter as well as an iPod
®
adapter cable. These accessories are available
from an authorised smart Service Centre.
Connecting an iPod
®
to the hands-free system
1. Set the audio system to AUX. (Please refer
to the audio system operating instructions.)
2. Connect the iPod
®
.
The connection between the iPod
®
and
hands-free system is set up automatically
when the iPod
®
is plugged into the iPod
®
adapter cable. After a connection has been
established, music from the iPod
®
can be
played immediately.
Note
If this function is not supported by the mobile
phone via Bluetooth
®
, the menu item
Messages cannot be selected in the hands-
free system.
GRisk of accident
Only connect the hands-free system to the
iPod
®
when the vehicle is at a standstill.
Otherwise, there is a risk that you could be
distracted from the traffic situation and cau-
se an accident.
