Verify proper connection of zone
sensors to SmartBox
sensor leads.
Ensure good, tight connections, no
corrosion, etc.
Press right soft key VIEW to determine
which sensor (T1 or T2) is inoperative.

Check continuity across
sensor leads. Reading
should be in the range of
20 k ohm. If a reading of
overload or infinity is
oberved, replace the
sensor.
Forced air or spark
ignition radiant
heaters do not start,
zone light is ON.
Is relay receiving
power from 120
VAC power
supply?
Yes
Check electrical connections,
tripped circuit breaker, defective
wiring, etc. Repair or replace as
needed.

Is relay sending
out 120 VAC to
heaters?
Ensure relay is receiving 24 VAC
from programmable controller.
If 24 VAC is present at relay, but
relay is not sending 120 VAC,
replace the relay.
If 24 VAC is not received at relay
from programmable controller,
check wiring and connections.
If good, the programmable
controller is defective.

Is 120 VAC
delivered at
heaters?
Check power supply wiring ,
outlets, and electrical
connections to the heater.
Repair or replace.

Yes
If 120 VAC is being received
at the heater but heater is
not functioning, there is a
fault in the heater. Refer to
the heater’s Owner’s Manual
for troubleshooting.
Zone 1 forced air or
Zone 2 radiant
heaters do not start,

Verify room controller is calling for heat
FORCED AIR AND RADIANT: Verify
temperature set-point for the zone, using
the touch pad.

Yes
Cycle the power to the
SmartBox
OFF and then
ON. If the LED remains in
this blink pattern, replace
the programmable controller.
