Installation
! Remove your existing deadbolt 1-3/4” to 2” (44mm - 51mm) 2-1/8” (54mm) If drilling a new door, use the supplied template and instructions available at: kwikset.
1 Install the latch A Extend the latch bolt. If your door requires a drive-in latch, please contact Kwikset at 1-800-327-5625. B UP is on top. 03809* (2X) C If the D-shaped hole is not centered in the door hole, rotate the latch face to extend the latch. *Use the longer screws if the holes are worn out. [OUTSIDE] 8 You will have two extra screws.
2 Install the strike 46780* (4X) *Install the longer screws closest to the door jamb.
3 Install the exterior assembly [OUTSIDE] A Cable goes under the latch.
[INSIDE] Keep parallel to the door edge Tighten the screws evenly. DO NOT over-tighten. 64844 (2X) B Route the cable through the center hole, then push into the bottom hole. C Insert the key and test the latch. If the latch does not extend or retract smoothly, adjust the screws.
4 Install the interior assembly A Make sure the turnpiece shaft is pointing up as shown below. Remove the interior cover from the interior assembly. Incorrect: B If the turnpiece shaft is not pointing up, put the cover back on and rotate the turnpiece until you hear a click.
C Connect the cable. Ensure a tight cable connection. align Secure the interior assembly onto the mounting plate. D Lay cable flat inside the bottom of the interior housing. 49191 (2X) E Ensure the spindle fully engages with the turnpiece shaft.
5 Perform the door handing process Install 4 AA batteries into the battery pack. With the door open, install the battery pack to initiate auto-handing. NOTE: Lock must be installed on the door before installing the battery. The latch will retract and extend to learn the orientation of the door. Then the status LED will indicate success or failure. Status LED GREEN: RED: 14 Successful. Proceed to the next step. Unsuccessful. Make sure the lock interior and batteries are correctly installed.
Secure the interior cover onto the interior assembly. 64109 (3X) You may need to rotate the turnpiece to align with the turnpiece shaft. For additional security, you may choose to lock the window by installing the security screw. 68611 (1X) [INSIDE] When the window is locked, you will need to remove the entire cover to access the battery pack and buttons.

Locking Unlocking To lock your door, place any finger on the fingerprint sensor. The light bar will display the following animations, beep once, and the door will lock. SmartKey Re-key Re-key the lock to work with your existing key by following the SmartKey Re-key instructions. NOTE: If Auto-Lock is enabled, remove the battery pack before re-keying your lock.

Manual Door Handing If needed, the door handing process can be initiated manually. This is useful if the lock is being moved to a different door. 1. Remove battery pack. 2. Press and HOLD the Program button while reinserting the battery pack. Release the Program button after 3 seconds. The status LED will flash red Status and green. LED 3. Press the Program button once more. 24 4. The latch bolt will extend and retract to learn the orientation of the door.
Network Reset Network Reset will delete all Wi-Fi settings, Bluetooth pairings, user associations, and remove the lock from the account. 1. Press and HOLD “A” for 10 seconds. You will hear 1 short beep and see an amber LED Note: After 3 seconds, you will hear 1 short beep and see a blue LED. You should continue to hold “A” to enter network reset mode. 3. Press and release the Program button to confirm network reset.
System Reset System Reset will delete all users, fingerprints, and lock settings including lock handing. 1. Press “A” 10 times. You will hear 1 short beep and see a blinking amber LED to indicate it is in system reset mode. 2. Press and release the Program button to confirm system reset. Program button 3. If successful, you will hear 1 long beep and see a green LED, and Successful: the reset process will begin.
Factory Reset Factory Reset will delete all Wi-Fi/Bluetooth pairings, users, remove the lock from the account, and reset all lock settings. 1. Remove battery pack. 2. Press and HOLD the Program button while reinserting the battery pack. Status Keep holding LED the button for 30 seconds until the lock beeps and the status LED flashes red. 3. Press the Program button once more. The LED will flash green and red, and the autohanding process will begin. 4.

Door Preparation Q: What is the door thickness requirement for Halo Touch? A: Halo Touch supports 1-3/4” to 2” (44mm - 51mm) door thickness. A1: The first time the battery is inserted, the lock will perform automatic calibration, or “handing.” You will know the handing is taking place when the latch bolt retracts and extends on its own. Batteries Q: How do I replace the (4) AA batteries? A: Complete the following steps: 1. Slide interior cover window up or remove interior cover. 2. Remove the battery pack. 3. Replace the batteries. Q: How can I tell if the batteries need to be replaced? A1: The interior status LED will blink red instead of amber when the batteries are low. A2: The exterior LED will flash red indicating a low battery level in the deadbolt.
Q: What can I do if I frequently need to replace batteries? A1: Check that the door is properly aligned. For helpful tips on getting the door to align, refer to the Warped Door Installation Guide. Resistance to both locking and unlocking because of door misalignment will reduce both motor and battery life.
