Preparing to ski or ride: Always have a person other than the driver as an observer to
lookoutfortheskier/rider.
• Besurethedriverisawareoftheexperienceandabilityleveloftheskier/rider.
• Thedriver,observerandskier/riderneedtoagreeonhandsignalsbeforeskiingor
riding.SignalsshouldincludeREADY,STOP,SPEEDUP,andSLOWDOWN.
• Starttheengineonlyaftermakingsurethatnooneinthewaterisnearthepropeller.
• Turntheengineoffwhenpeoplearegettingintooroutofthewatercraft,orinthewater
near the watercraft.
• Alwaysmakesurethetowropeisnotwrappedaroundanyone’shands,arms,legs,or
other parts of the body.
• Startthewatercraftandmoveslowlytoremoveslackuntilthetowropeistight.
• Whentheskier/ridersignalsREADYandthereisnotrafcahead,takeoffinastraight
line.Adjustthespeedaccordingtothesignalsgivenbytheskier/rider.
Skiing or Riding:Thewatercraftandskier/ridershouldalwaysmaintainasufcient
distancefromobstaclessoaskier/riderfallingorcoastingand/orwatercraftwillnot
encounter any obstacle.
• Donotuseinshallowwaterornearshore,docks,pilings,swimmers,otherwatercraft,
or any other obstacles.
• Useonlyonwater.
• Neverattemptlandordockstarts.Thiswillincreaseyourriskofinjuryordeath.
• Alwayswearaproperlyttedlifejacket(PFD)approvedbyyourcountry’sagency,
USCGTypeIII,ISO,etc.
• Thefasteryouskiorride,thegreateryourriskofinjury.
• Nevermakesharpturnsthatmaycauseaslingshoteffectonthetube’sspeed.
• Skier/Ridershouldbetowedatanappropriatespeedfortheirabilitylevel.
Fallen skier or rider: Falling and injuries are common in skiing or riding.
• Circleafallenskier/riderslowlytoreturnthetowropehandleorpickupthefallenskier/
rider.
• Putthewatercraftinneutralwhennearafallenskier/rider.
• Alwayskeepthefallenskier/riderinviewandonthedriver’ssideofthewatercraft.
• Displayaredororangeskier-downagtoalertothervesselsthataskier/riderisdown.

To turn right, simply shift your weight to the right. To turn left, simply shift your weight to the
left. Most riders will be able to carve turns after only a few minutes of practice. Try different
body and handle positions to determine what works best for your weight, physical ability,
wake and water conditions.
