Mono Sample XFade
Whenapplyingportamentotomulti‐sampledsounds(AcousticGuitar,forexample),thePC3K
willplaymorethanonesamplerootasthepitchglidesfromthestartingpitchtothe ending
pitch.Thismaycauseasmallclickateachsampleroottransition.Youcaneliminateclicksby
settingtheMono
SampleXFadeparametertoOn.WhentheMonoSampleXFadeparameteris
settoOn,thePC3Kperformsacrossfadeateachsampleroottransitiontoeliminateclicks.
Globals
Thisisanothertoggle,whichaffectsLFO2,ASR2,FUNs2and4.Whenoff,these threecontrol
sourcesarelocal;theyaffecteachindividualnoteinthelayersthatusethemasacontrolsource.
Theybeginoperatingeachtimeanoteinthatlayeristriggered.
WhentheGlobalsparameter
issettoOn,thesecontrolsourcesbecomeglobal,thatistheyaffect
everynoteineverylayerofthecurrentprogram,they’renotspecifictoanyonelayer.When
thesecontrolsourcesareglobal,theybeginoperatingassoonastheprogramisselected.When
Globalsareon,LFO2,
ASR2,andFUNs2and4willappearontheirrespectivepagespreceded
bytheletterGtoindicatethatthey’reglobal.
You’lluseglobalcontrolsourceswhenyouwanttoaffect allnotesinaprogramuniformly,and
localcontrolsourceswhenyouwanttoaffecteachnoteindependently.For
example,you’dusea
globalLFOcontrollingpitchtocreateaLeslieeffectonanorgansound,sinceyouwanttheeffect
appliedtoallthenotesyouplay.You’dusealocalLFOcontrollingpitchtocreateavibratofora
soloviolin,sinceyouwanttobeableto
varytherateanddepthofthevibratoforeachnote.
Output: Gain, Pan, and Pan Mode
TheOutputparametersontheCOMMONpageallowyoutoadjustthefinal‐stagegainand
panningofthepost‐FXsignal.UsetheOutGainparametertocutorboostthesignal.Usethe
OutPanparametertopanthesignal;negativevaluespan theaudiosignaltotheleftchannel,
positive
valuestotheright,andavalueofzeropanstothecenter.
WhentheOPanModeissettoFixed thepanpositionremainsasdefinedwiththeOutPan
parameter,ignoringMIDIpanmessages.WhentheOPanModeissetto+MIDI,MIDIpan
messages(MIDI10)willshiftthesound
totheleftorrightofthePanparametersetting.Message
valuesbelow64shiftitleft,whilethoseabove64shiftitright.
Demo Song
TheDemoSongparameterallowsyoutochoosethedemosongforthecurrentprogram.The
demosongisashort,pre‐programmedsongthatgivesyouademonstrationoftheprogramina
musicalcontext.Youcanplayaprogram’sdemosonginanypageintheProgrammodeby
pressingthePlay/Pausebutton,andstopthesongbypressingtheStopbutton(bothbuttonsare
locatedundertheMODEbuttonsonthefrontpanel).
WhenintheProgra mmodeentry‐levelpage,youcanhearademosonginwhateverprogram
youwantbypressingthePlay/Pausebuttonwithone
programselected,andthenselecting
anotherprogram.NoneoftheKB3programshavedemosongs,butbythismethod,youcould,
forexample,hearthedemosongforprogram83BigOldJupiterplayedwiththeKB3program
53Testify.
Note:Youcanalsotriggerandstopdemosongswith
asimultaneousdoublebuttonpressoftheupand
downcursorbuttons.
