Src1worksintandemwiththeparameterbeneathitonthepage:Depth.Chooseacontrolsou rce
fromthelistforSrc1,thensetavalueforDepth.WhenthecontrolsourceassignedtoSrc1isat
itsmaximum,thepitchwillbealteredtothefulldepthyouset.For
example,ifyousetSrc1to
MWheel,andsetDepthto1200ct,thepitchwillriseasyoupushthe ModWheeluponyour
PC3KorMIDIcontroller,reachingamaximumof1200ct(12semi tones, orone octave).
Source 2 (Src2)
Thisone’sevenmoreprogrammable.LikeSrc1,youchooseacontrolsourcefromthelist.But
insteadofsettingafixeddepth,youcansetaminimumandmaximumdepth,thenassign
anothercontrolsourcetodeterminehowmuchdepthyouget.Trythisexample.(MakesureSrc1
issetto
OFFfirst,sothetwosourcesdon’tinteract.)StartwithProgram199,andpressEdit.
PressthePITCHsoftbuttontoselectthePITCHpage.SettheSrc2parametertoavalueofLFO1,
thensettheMinimumDepthparameterto100ct,andMaximumDepthto1200ct
.Thensetthe
DepthControlparametertoMWheel.ThisletsyouusetheModWheeltovarythedepthofthe
oscillationinpitchgeneratedbytheLFO.
Now,whentheModWheelisdown,thepitchwilloscillatebetweenasemitone(100ct)upanda
semitonedown(the
defaultwaveformforLFO1isasinewave,whichgoespositiveand
negative).WiththeModWheelup,thepitchwilloscillatebetweenanoctaveupandanoctave
down.
SincetheModWheelisacontinuouscontrol,youcanachieveanyamountofdepthcontrol
betweentheminimumandmaximum.
IfyouhadsettheDepthControltoSustain,forexample,
thenyou’dgetonlytwolevelsofdepthcontrol:themaximum(1200cents)withyourMIDI
controller’ssustainpedaldown,ortheminimum(100cents)withthesustainpedalup.
