Saving and Naming
ROM Objects
IftheobjectyoustartedfromwasaROM (factorypreset)object,thePC3Kwillautomatically
suggestthenextavailable(unused)IDastheIDfortheeditedobject.Ifthat’stheIDyouwant,
presstheSavesoftbutton,andtheobjectwillbestoredinmemorywiththatID.
Otherwise,you
canselectanyIDfrom1tothemaximum.Thispagealsogivesyoutheopportunitytoreturnto
thenamingdialog(asdescribedintheprevioussection)or,bypressingtheObjectsoftbutton,
toaccesstheObjectUtilities(seeTheUtilities(UTILS)Page on page 13‐14).
Ifyou
selectanIDthat’salreadyinuse,the PC3Kwilltellyouthatyou’regoingtoreplacethe
ROMobjectthat’s alreadybeenassignedthatID.Ifyoudon’twanttodothat,youcanselecta
differentID.OryoucanpressthePlus/Minusbuttonssimultaneouslytotogglebetweenthe
ID
thatthePC3KsuggestedandtheoriginalID.OrpresstheCancelsoftbuttontocancelthe
operation.
IfyoudecidenottocancelorchangetheID,andyoupresstheReplacesoftbutton,thePC3K
willwriteyournewlyeditedobjectovertheexistingROMobject.Actually,it
onlyappearsthat
way,sinceyoucan’ttrulywritetoROM .TheROMobjectwillreappearifyoudeletethenewly
editedobject(therearesoftbuttonsineacheditorfordeletingobjects).
Memory Objects
Iftheoriginalobjectwasamemoryobject,thePC3Kwillassumeyouwanttoreplaceit,andwill
suggestthesameIDastheoriginalobject.(InallmodesotherthanSongmode,adiamondicon
precedinganitem’sIDindicatesamemoryobject).AswithROMobjects,youcan
cancel,
replace,orchangetheIDandsavetoanunusedID.Ifyoureplaceamemoryobject,howev er,it’s
definitelygone!
