Ifyou’ reusingadifferentMIDIcontroller,youcanmakeuseofSetupmodeevenifyourMIDI
controllercantransmitononlyoneMIDIchannelatatime.Todothis,gototheRECEIVEpage
inMIDImode(bypressingtheRECVsoftbuttonwhileinMIDImode),and
settheLocal
KeyboardChannelparametertoavaluethatmatchesthetransmitchannelofyourMIDI
controller.WhenyouselectSetupmode,thePC3KwillinterpretincomingMIDIinformation
accordingtothesettingsforthecurrentlyselectedsetup.SeethediscussionoftheLocal
KeyboardChannelparameterinChapter
10fordetails.
Quick Access Mode
Anotherfeatureforliveperformance,QuickAccessmodeenablesyoutocombineprograms
andsetupsintobanksoftenentries.Eachoftheseprogramsorsetupscanbeselectedwitha
singlealphanumericbutton.DifferentbanksareselectedwiththeChan/Layerbuttons.There’sa
selectionoffactorypresetbanks,andyou
canusetheQuickAccessEditortocreateyourown
banksandstoretheminthePC3K’s memory.There’safulldescriptioninChapter8.
YoucanalsouseQuickAccessbanksasawaytoremapincomingoroutgoingProgramChange
commands.
Effects Mode
EffectsmodesetsthebehaviorofthePC3K’seffectsprocessor.TheEffectsmodepageletsyou
tellthePC3Khowtoselecteffectsconfigurationscalledchains.Chapters9showsyouhow.
MIDI Mode
You’lluseMIDImodetoconfigurethePC3K’sinteractionwithotherMIDIinstruments,by
settingparametersfortransmittingandreceivingMIDI.You’llalsouseittoconfigureyour
PC3Kformulti‐timbralsequencing.OntheCHANNELSpage,youcanassignaprogram toeach
channel,andenableordisableeachchannel’s
responsetothreetypesofMIDIcontrolmessages:
ProgramChange,volumeandpan.SeeChapter10.
Master Mode
Mastermode,describedinChapter 11,containstheparametersthatcontroltheentirePC3K.
Globalsettingsfortuning,transposition,velocityandaftertouchsensitivity,andother
preferencesareadjustedhere.YoucanalsogettoGMModefromhereandsetthesamplerate
forthePC3K’sdigitaloutput.
Song Mode
Songmodeenablesyoutoplaysequences(songs)storedinthePC3K’smemory,andprovidesa
fullyfeaturedsequencerthatyoucanusetorecordsongs.Youcanalsorecordmulti‐timbrally
viaMIDI,orloadstandardMIDIfiles(Type0or1).TheSongEditoralsoenablesyoutomodify
existingsequencesstoredinmemory.SeeChapter 12.
Storage Mode
StoragemodeletsyouloadandsaveprogramsandotherobjectsusinganUSBdevice.See
