Keymap Editor Parameters
Sample
Thisiswhereyouassignasampleroottothecurrentkeyrange.Dependingonthenatureofthe
sampleroot—anindividualsampleorablockofsampleroots—thesample’snamelooksabit
differentinthedisplay.Eachsample’snameconsistsofthreeparts:anumeral,aname,and
a
notenumber—forexample,999Silence‐C4.Additionally,thenameofstereosampleswillend
withanS.(Touseastereosample,theStereoparametermustbesettoOnintheProgramEditor,
andtwokeymapsmustbeselected,seeTheKEYMAPPage on page 6‐14fordetails.)
Thenumeral
isthesampleblockID.Ifthesampleobjectisanindividualsample, thesample
blockIDisthesameasthesample’sobjectID.Ifthesampleobjectisagroupofsampleroots,the
objectIDofthefirstrootinthegroupdeterminesthesampleblockID.
Theremainingrootsin
theblockhavethesameID,anddifferonlyintheirnotenumbers.
Nextcomesthenameofthesample,whichtypicallydescribesthesample’stimbre.Thefinal
partofthesample’snamereferstothepitchatwhichitwasoriginallysampled.Formany
timbres,multiple
samplesaremadeatvariouspitches.AsyouscrollthroughtheSamplelist,
you’llseeonlythepitchofthesamplechangeuntilyoureachthenextsampleblock.The
sample’soriginalpitchissetintheSampleEditor(seeRootKey on page 14‐10.)Thisdetermines
whichkeywillplaythe
sampleatitsoriginalpitchwhenasampleisusedinakeyrange(see
KeyRangebelow.)
Key Range
Akeyrangeisarangeofkeyboardkeysthatplaysonesample(pervelocityrange,seeVelocity
Range(VelRange)belowfordetails.)Eachsampleinakeyrange(pervelocityrange)is
transposed
basedoneachsample’sRootKeyparametersothatitplaysatthecorrectpitchonthe
keyboardrelativetoitsrootkey(seeEditingSamples on page 14‐9fordetailsontheRootKey
parameter.)Otherkeyswithinthekeyrangetransposethesamplechromaticallyrelativetothe
rootkey.Samplepitchrelative
totherootkeycanalsobeoffsetusingtheCoarseTuneandFine
Tuneparam eters,seebelow.)
TheKeyRangeparametershowsyouwhichkeyrangeyou’recurrentlyviewingorediting(key
rangesarenamedbytheirlowestandhighestnotes.)ChangingthevalueoftheKeyRange
parameterselectsfromthe
availablekeyranges,andallowsyoutovieworeditthesample
assignmentandotherparametersoftheselectedkeyrange.WhentheKeyRangeparameteris
selected,youcanalsoscrollthroughavailablekeyrangesusingtheAlphaWheelorthe‐/+
buttons.Multiplekeyrangesareonlyshown
ifthecurrentKeymapusesmorethanonekey
range.Ifthetoplineofthe EditKeymappagedisplaysKeyRange,youcanscrollthroughthe
availablekeyrangeswithanyparameteronthepageselectedusingtheChan/Layerbuttons.
(PresstheTogglesoftbuttontotogglethetoplinebetweendisplaying
KeyRangeand
VelRange.)
WiththeKeyrangeparameterselected,keyrangescanalsobeselectedbyholdingtheEnter
buttonandplayingakey.Thekeyrangeassignedtothatkeywillbeselected.
Low Key (Lo), High Key (Hi)
Withtheseparametersyoucanuseanyofthedataentrymethodstochangethelowandhigh
notes
ofthecurrentkeyrange.YoucanextendakeyrangetothefullcapacityofthePC3K(C0
toG10).Ifyouextendthecurrentkeyrangeintoanother,theboundariesoftheotherkeyrange
willbecomeshortenedtoaccommodatethekeyrangeyouareextending.If
thekeyrangeyou
areextendingcoversanotherkeyrange,theotherkeyrangewillbedeleted.
Thesettingforthelowkeycannotbehigherthanthesettingforthehighkey.Similarly,the
settingforthehighkeycannotbelowerthanthesettingforthelowkey.
