playablefromwithinMastermode.PresstheExitbuttonuntilyoureachtheProgram
modemainpage,andthenewprogramwillbeselected.

mode,youcaneditthenewprogramandviewtheID numberofthenewkeymap

fordetails).Youcaneditthenewkeymap,aswellasuseitincombinationwithotherkeymaps
intheprogram
youjustmadeorinotherprograms.
Theprogramandkeymapthatyoucreatedwiththistutorialwillmostlikelysoundverysimple.
MostofthefactoryROMkeymapsinthePC3Kusemanysamples,andmostofthefactoryROM
programsinthePC3Kusemanylayers,eachwith
adifferentkeymapandkeyrange.Eachlayer
ofaprogramcanalsohaveitsownDSPoraudioeffects,whichcangreatlychangethesoundof
thesamplesbeingused.Readthefollowingsectionstolearnmoreaboutthepossibilitiesof

KeymapandSampleEditing.
Akeymapgenerallycontainsagroupofsimilarsamples(forexample,differentpitchesofa
piano,)soyoumaywishtoaddadditionalaudiofilesthatyouhaveloadedtothekeymapthat
youhavecreatedinthistutorial.Thiscanbedonein
theKeymapEditorontheEditKeymap
page(seeTheKeymapEditor on page 14‐1.)OntheEditKeymappage,loadedaudiofilescanbe
selectedintheSamplefield.Formostusers,theloadedsample(s)willhavethehighestID
number(s)inthesamplelist.OntheEditKeymappageyoucanfindan
audiofilewiththe
highestID#byselectingtheSamplefield,entering0onthealphanumerickeypadandpressing
Enter, thenpresstheminus(‐)buttononce(belowtheAlphaWheel.)
Ifthekeymapthatyoucreateddoesnotplayintunewithotherkeymapsorprograms,you
shouldadjust
thesample’stuningwithintheSampleEditorusingtheRootKeyparameter.The
SampleEditorisnestedwithintheKeymapEditor(seeEditingSamples on page 14‐9fordetails).
