Tutorial: Load An Audio File, Create A New Keymap And
Program
Thistutorialexplainshowtoload.WAVor.AIFaudiofilesintothePC3K,andhowtoquickly
createakeymapandprogramwithasingleaudiofilebyusingthesamplePreviewfunction.
Thekeymapandprogramthatyoucreatewillbeverybasic,containingoneaudiofile,playable
at
differentpitchesacrossthekeyboard.Theendofthistutorialexplainshowtoeditthekeymap
andprogramtocreatemorecomplexsoundingprogramswithyouraudiofiles.
1. UseacomputertoloadaudiofilesontoaUSBdevice(suchasathumbdrive).Audiofiles
mustbein
.WAVor.AIFformat,monoandstereofilescanbeloaded,8or16bit,with
sampleratesuptoamaximumof96000Hz.OncesamplesareloadedtothePC3K’suser
sampleflashmemory ,samplesremaininthePC3Kevenwhenthepowerisoff,untiltheyare
manually
deleted.Also,oncesamplesareloadedtothePC3K’susersampleflashmemory,thereis
noloadtimeforthoseusersampleswhenturningonthePC3K.
2. TurnonthePC3K.IfyouhavenavigatedawayfromtheProgrammodemainpage,press
theExitbuttonuntilyoureturntothe
Programmodemainpage(seebelow. )
3. InserttheUSBdeviceintothePC3K’sUSBStorageportonthe rearpanel.
4. PresstheStoragemodebuttontotheleftofthedisplaytoenterStoragemode(seebelow.)
OntheStoragemodemainpage,thedisplayshouldreadʺUSBdevice:ready”.
(Ifthe
displayreadsʺUSBdevice:notconnectedʺ,presstheExitbuttontoreturntotheProgrammode
mainpage.UnplugtheUSBdeviceandre‐insertitintothePC3K,thenpresstheStoragemode
buttontotheleftofdisplay.)
5. PresstheLOADsoftbuttonontheStorage
modepage(seeabove)togotothe
Storage:Loadpage(seebelow).
