Here’showtheloadingmethodswork:
OvFill FirstdeletesallRAMobjectsintheselectedbank,andthenloadsobjectsusing
consecutivenumbering.
Overwrt FirstdeletesallRAMobjectsintheselectedbank,andthenloadsobjectsusingthe
objectIDnumbersstoredinthefile.
Merge PreservetheobjectIDnumbersstoredin
thefilefortheobjectstobeloaded,
overwriteobjectsalreadyinmemoryifnecessary.Forfilesthatdon’thaveID
numbers(.MID,.WAVand.AIFfiles,)MergebehavesthesameasFill.
Append TrytousetheobjectIDnumbersstoredinthefilefortheobjectstobe loaded.
Ifan
IDnumberisalreadyinuse,incrementtheIDnumberuntilafreeslotisfound.For
filesthatdon’thaveIDnumbers(.MID,.WAVand.AIFfiles,)Appendbehavesthe
sameasFill.
Fill IgnoretheobjectIDnumbersstoredinthefile.Trytouseconsecutivenumbering
fromthebeginningoftheselectedbank.IfanIDnumberisalreadyinuse,
incrementtheIDnumberuntilafreeslotisfound.
Cancel CanceltheobjectloadingandreturntothemainLoadpage.
Typically,youwilljustwanttousetheFillmethod.Append,Merge,andOverwrt
tryto
preservethenumbersstoredwiththeobjectsinthefile,butthisshouldonlyreallybenecessary
ifyoudependonprogramnumbersoreffectnumberstobeatacertainMIDIprogramchange
number.OvFillislikeFillexcepttheselectedbank(orEverything)isclearedoutbefore
loading.
OverwrtandOvFilloperateindifferentwaysafteraselectedbankhasbeenfilledupforagiven
objecttype(forexample,afteryouhaveloadedmorethan128programsintoabank).Overwrt
willcontinuetopreservetheobjectIDsstoredinthefile,andwillindividuallyoverwriteobjects
in
thebankfollowingthejustfilledbank.OvFilldoesnotoverwritepasttheendoftheselect ed
bank;itinsteadskipsoverobjectIDsthatareinuse,loadingonlyintounusedIDs.Becauseof
thisdifference,itcansometimesbefastertoloadafileusingOvFillratherthan
Overwrt.
However,thisappliesonlyiftheobjectstobeloadedwouldextendpasttheendofaselected
bank.
Notethatwhenloadingintoaspecificbank (asoppo sed toloadingas“Everything”),theobject
IDsinthefileareusedasfollows:The“bank”digitisignored,andthe
remainderofthenumber
isusedwhenthePC3KrebankstheobjectIDintothebankthatyouspecify.Forexample,ifyou
saveProgram453intoafile,andloaditbackintothe129...256bank,thePC3Kwillusethe
number69(itsbank‐specificIDinthe
385...512bank)whendecidinguponanewobjectID.Ifthe
129...256bankwaspreviouslyempty,andtheloadmodeisAppend,thentheprogramwillend
upwithID197(128+69).
Forloadingas“Everything,”theIDnumberforanobjectstoredinafileistakenliterally,
and
notrebanked(exceptifFillorOvFillmodeischosen).
