Storage Mode Common Features
Thefollowingfeaturesareusedinstoragemodewhensavingorloadingfiles.
Directories
Adirectoryletsyougroupfilestogetherasyoumightseparatedocumentsusingfoldersinafile
cabinet.Bydefaultallstoragedeviceshaveatleastone“root”directory.Toorganizefilesina
USBdeviceyoucancreateadditionaldirectories,aswellas subdirectorieswithindirectories.

Path
ThePathfieldshowsthecurrentdirectoryonthecurrentdevice.Thisfieldisdisplayedwhen
loading,saving,orexportingfilesinStoragemode.ThePC3Kalwaysdisplaystheroot(top‐
level)directorywhenyouviewastoragedevice.
Therootdirectoryisdisplayedasabackslash:

Ifyoupressthe
LOADbuttonandloadafilefromasubdirectorycalledSOUNDS,thePathfield
willappearas

Thebackslashcharacterisadirectoryseparator,asinthefollowingPath:

ThisrepresentsthedirectoryDOGS,whichisasubdirectoryoftheSAMPLESdirectory,whichis
asubdirectoryoftheNEWTUNE
directoryintherootdirectory.Ifthepathistoolongtofiton
thetoplineofthe display,itgets abbreviated.ThemaximumlengthofapathinthePC3Kis
64 characters(includingthebackslashcharacters).

The Select Directory Dialogue
Whenstoringanobject—orgroupofobjects—thePC3Kprompt’syoutoselectadirectoryin
whichtosavethatobjectorgroup.
Therearethreenavigatingsoftbuttonsontheleftsideofthebottomof
thepage:
NewDir Createnewdirectory.CallsuptheNewDirectorydialogue(seethefollowing
section)
Open Opensthehighlighteddirectory.
Parent Movesyouuponelevelinthedirectoryhierarchy.Ifthedisplayisalreadyatthe
rootdirectory,thisbuttonhasnoeffect.
Whenyouhavechosenyourdirectory,presstheOK
softbuttontocalluptheFileName
dialogue(seethefollowingsection)andcompletethestoringprocess.
