Youmustlatchatleasttwonotestogetaresult. WhenGlissandoison,allnotesplayedinthe
arpeggiationrangegetlatched,althoughyouwon’tnecessarilygetmeaningfulresultsfromall
latchednotes.Ingeneral,trytogeteachsubsequentnoteyoulatchtobeachangeindirection.
Forexample,trylatchingthefollowing sequenceofnotes:C4, C5,G4,G5,C5,C6,G4,G5.The
“glissando”changesdirectionaroundeachchangeindirectionofthelatchednotes.
SyncTo
TheSyncToparameterdetermineswhatanarpeggiatorwillsyncto.Anarpeggiatorcansyncto
anotherarpeggiator,ariff,or
asongplayingfromSongmode.Youcanchooseaspecific
arpeggiatororrifftosynctobysettingSyncTotoArp1–16orRiff116,and thecurrent
arpeggiatorwillalwayssynctothatarpeggiatororriff.Forexample,ifyouhaveanarpeggiator
onabasssound
inzone1andanarpeggiatoronaleadsoundinzone2,youmayalwayswant
theleadarpeggiationinzone2tosynctothebassarpeggiationinzone1.Inthiscaseyouwould
settheSyncToparameterinzone2toArp1.
Youmaywantto
havealittlemorefreedomandnotbetiedtothebassarpeggiationinzone1as
themain“timekeeper.”Maybeyouwanttostartwiththeleadarpeggiationinzone2andhave
thebassarpeggiationinzone1startlater.InthiscaseyouwouldsettheSyncTo
parameterfor
zone2toFirstArp.Av.Withthissetting,thearpeggiatorwilllookforthefirstavailable
arpeggiatortosyncto.Soifboththebassarpeggiationandtheleadarpeggiationhavethis
parametersettoFirstArp.Av.,thearpeggiationthatisstartedfirstwillbethemain
“timekeeper.”Ifthe
leadarpeggiatorstartsfirst,thebassarpeggiatorwillseethatasthefirst
availablearpeggiatortosynctoandwilldoso.Ifthebassarpeggiatorisstartedfirst,thelead
arpeggiatorwillseethatasthefirstavailablearpeggiatortosynctoandwilldoso.Thiscanbe
very
handyifyouareusingmultiplearpeggiatorsandwanttodosomeliveimprovisation;you
canstartandstopdifferentarpeggiatorsandaslongisthereisonearpeggiatorplaying,any
arpeggiatorwithSyncTosettoFirstArp.Av.willsyncbackupwhentriggeredagain.
YoucanalsochooseFirstRiff.Av.,which
behavesthesamewayasFirstArp.Av.,butmakesyour
arpeggiatorlookforthefirstavailablerifftosyncto.AsettingofMainSeq.willsyncthe
arpeggiatortothesongcurrentlyloadedinSongmode.YoucanselectasonginSong mode,
thenplayitfromsetupmode
withthefrontpanelPlay/Pausebutton.(Doingthistemporarily
replacestheprogramsinyoursetup’szoneswiththeprogramusedforeachchannelinthesong,soit’s
besttomakeasetupthatusesthesameprogramsasyoursongonthesameMIDIchannels.Ifyouplanon
syncing
riffswithasong,itmaybeeasiertostartbycreatingasetup,thenrecordingthesetupintoa
song.SeeRecordingASetupToSongMode on page 769fordetails.)AsettingofFirstAvail.will
syncthearpeggiatortothefirstavailablearpeggiator,riff,orsongfromSong
mode.
Note:IfyouhavemultiplearpeggiatorsorriffsalreadyplayingwhenusingFirstArp.Av. ,FirstRiff.Av.,
orFirstAvail.forthecurrentarpeggiator,thecurrentarpeggiatorwillsynctothearpeggiatororriffof
thelowestnumberedzonethathasanarpeggiatororriffplaying.
SyncType
TheSyncTypeparameterallowsyou
tochoosehowyourarpeggiatorwillsynctoother
arpeggiators,riffs,orasongplayingfromSongmode.
WithSyncTypesettoNone,yourarpeggiatorwillstartplayingassoonasitistrig gered.Itwill
notsynctoanything.WithSyncTypesettoDownBeat,ifthereisalreadysomething
playingto
syncto,thecurrentarpeggiatorwillwaitforthedownbeatofthenextmeasurebeforestarting;
so,youcantriggerthearpeggiatortostartaheadoftime,and haveitstartinsyncatthe
downbeatofthenextmeasure.IfSyncingtoanarpeggiator,seeNumBeats on page 7

onchangingwhenanarpeggiator’sdownbeatwilloccur.WithSyncTypesettoAnyBeat,ifthereis
alreadysomethingplayingtosyncto,thearpeggiatorwillwaitonlyuntilthenextbeat.
Dependingonwhenyoutriggerthearpeggiator,itwillsyncup,butitmaybeon
anupbeatora
downbeat.
